This is an lovingly crafted adaptation of Hans Christian Andersens 'Little Match Girl' and has been my dream project for so so many years now. I'm not kidding, I think this project is now in its 12th year.

The core tale is all still there, but I have shifted it to a much bleaker place than even the original found itself. It has taken so many years of trying different methods of illustration and mixed media to finally hit upon a style that captures the vast industrial nature of this creation.

"Set in an unknown distant future, surrounded by a scarred wasteland our fearful match girl is trying to sell her wares to the retuning workers from beyond the citadel come tomb they all now share.

As they all Scurry to their own sectors before curefew falls, the Match Girl does not want to return to the menacing father waiting for her, and instead chooses to brave the streets of a different sector to stop him coming to find her.

What follows is a night of both trajedy and elation as we walk for a while in the shoes of broken hearts and savage illusions."

The story itself has evolved so much over the years, and it encompasses so much more than her tale (although that is the focus) I have made sure the citadel itself and in inhabitants also play their part in creating the atmosphere. For anyone that is familiar with the original knows, it is a tragic tale, and I wanted to add my own hopefully beautiful but bleak spin on it.
